The Beauty of Hair Extensions

July 18th 2013

Hair extensions have become a popular way to give you exactly what you want as far as your hair style and look goes. There are several reasons for getting hair extensions, and many of the most common reasons are listed below:

To give thin/fine hair more volume

For a look of full hair like many of the women in Hollywood

To make hair longer after getting a regretted short cut

Making yourself feel better after a medical issue that took a toll on your hair

No matter what your reason for wanting hair extensions, they can really boost your self-esteem and self-image. And what women doesn’t want to get the look that the stars sport all the time? The best part about using these things is that they are totally safe. They give you a natural option of beauty enhancement that cannot be gotten any other way.

Hair extensions provide you with more length, volume, and texture. They also help with high and low lights in a fast and easy way that does not involve adding chemicals to your natural hair.

Placing Hair Extensions

It is a mystery to some people how hair extensions are applied. This is how it works; a small attachment is put about one quarter inch from your scalp. Either synthetic or human hair that matches your natural color is blended into your hair. It does not have to match completely as some women choose to go with highlighted extensions for an even different look.

The Importance of Hair Extensions

Getting hair extensions is a big commitment as well as a big investment moneywise. This is why it is vital that you go with a salon that uses the best possible methods so as not to be disappointed with the results. The proper hair must be used and the professional stylist has got to be used so no mistakes are made. Just like with a medical procedure, you should always get second (or even third) opinions on what is best for your hair. They should only be put in by a professional who have done this type of procedure before and feels comfortable doing it. Putting in hair extensions properly takes a lot of skill so you should use someone that has heavy experience in this area. The more experience the stylist has the better techniques they have up their sleeves!

In the end, hair extensions were once something that was worn by celebrities all the time and simply coveted by us regular folks! Since they have become such a Hollywood legend over the past years, more and more salons have taken it upon themselves to become trained in this fine art. If you are thinking about getting them added to your hair, I say go for it! They add so much to your look and you will not likely be disappointed!

Things to Consider Before Making a Style Change

July 9th 2013

The time comes for everyone when they feel that a new hair style is in order. Sometimes we regret our choices and other times we fall in love with our new looks. Before making a final decision about your hair though, you must consider a few things so you do not end up feeling regretful. Below are some things to think about before committing to a new hair style.

The first thing you should do is be realistic. Too often a person will see a specific hair style and want it for themselves without considering how it will affect their life. Ask yourself the following questions before you head to the beauty salon:

How much of your time do you wish to spend fixing your hair every day?

How much time do you actually have to devote to your new style?

How complicated is it to get your new hair cut styled in the way it is supposed to be?

Remember, if you go with a style that takes time to fix each day and you are not pleased about having to put in that much time than you will not be able to land the look you were wanting in the first place.

The second thing you should consider is your hair type. You should always get a cut that allows you to make the most out of your natural beauty. For instance, some styles, no matter how great they look on others, may not look good on you. A style that is great for thick hair will not be something that looks good on thin or wispy hair. Do some research before deciding on your new style. I made the mistake of simply picking a style that I loved on a television actress. I could picture how amazing it would look on me but when it was done, it looked horrible. I ended up having to cut my hair very short to get a new start. Needless to say, it was a major regret for me.

Finally, you must really think about how a specific style will look on you. You cannot assume it will since it looks good on others. The best way to do this is by doing some photoshopping or by using a app that will allow you to post your photo on it so you can try out different styles the virtual way. This will allow you to look objectively. However, it will only let you see how the style will look on you and does not take into account your hair type. Hair type is important when choosing the right style. So, while this is a good idea, you must also figure out if your hair will behave properly with the style you choose.

The bottom line is that even if you find that you do not like your new style, it is only hair and it will grow back! But, doing the best you can to ensure that you are pleased with you new look will make your life much happier!

Everyone wants to stay up-to-date with their hair color and it seems that every year there are new and exciting trends just waiting to be explored. This year it seems that the most popular trends for hair color include Dip dye color, ombre color, bright hues, platinum blonde, brown blonde and finally, balayage. Let’s explore these color trends!

Dip Dye Hair Color

Dip dye began as a teenage trend in the beginning of 2013, but now in the middle of the year it is something that people of all ages are attracted to. Dip dying is when the tips of the hair are put into a specific color dye, leaving the rest of the hair its natural color. With both men and women of all age groups popping up with this new and stylish look, there are no signs of this trend slowing down in the least.

Ombre Color

Ombre color can be seen in excess all over the red carpet. Some of the best and brightest Hollywood stars have been sporting this relatively new dye job with pride for at least a year now. This year however, it has become an even bigger phenomenon. While anyone can pull it off, the best hair for this color job is brunette. So what exactly is this style? Well, it is done by leaving the hair roots dark and making the rest lighter in the mid-shaft. You may have heard of this before under the name of surfer strands.

Bright Hues

The Kool-Aid look is back with a vengeance! People are leaning more toward brighter than usual colors this year and this included Kool-Aid dyes, bright streaks, and pastel washes. The brighter the better is the motto for many people this year!

Platinum Blonde

Although the platinum blonde look is nothing new, this year it seems to have experienced a great comeback. Keep in mind that this look is not good for all people. In order to keep this style looking good you will have to put in some time. Overall it is a high maintenance look but well worth it if it makes your hair look amazing!

Brown Blonde

Brown blonde is the ideal hue between these two colors. Some would say that it is the best of both color worlds. It was made popular by Gisele Bundchen back in 2007 and this year has made a significant comeback. Just as the name suggests, it is a mix of both blonde and brown hues. It is comparable to a Sunkist look of a natural brunette. While not all colors look good on everyone, this one comes as close as possible to looking good on nearly everyone.

Balayage

There are very few salons that you can walk into this year that do not offer Balayage. The best candidates for this hair coloring method are blondes but this does not mean those with other hair colors cannot give it a whirl. Balayage is the perfect way to get sunny highlights. With this coloring process color is swept into the hair by way of a special paddle. The color artist has more freedom to put the color wherever they choose and this is the main difference between this process and foil highlighting which must be put in a more precise manner. It is perfect for doing gray cover-ups as well.
